SOFTWARE DESIGN
CLIENT:
A federal agency PMO office
Context / Challenge: A federal agency’s enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) faced outdated project management applications hindering its transformation initiatives. To address this, the agency aimed to establish and implement modern applications. Developing a robust PMO framework and adaptable software presented challenges given the agency's diverse projects and the necessity for user-friendly, accessible solutions.
Approach: As the team leader, I guided a multidisciplinary group of strategists and software developers, employing Agile methodology and Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles to create a new PMO application. Working closely with developers, I facilitated collaboration and ensured alignment with project goals. Our approach involved analyzing user needs, crafting use cases and requirements, custom designing the PMO software, and iteratively refining it through wireframes and user workshops. Our primary focus was on ensuring usability, functionality, and accessibility throughout the development cycle.
Impact: The successful launch of the Beta prototype of the new PMO application empowered project managers to efficiently plan, track, and manage projects. The application's continual improvement was driven by Agile and HCD methodologies, enhancing its ability to ensure project delivery, resource allocation, and stakeholder collaboration across projects.
